CLINIC SERVICES
The South Community Birth Program provides a full range of primary maternity care services to Vancouver's childbearing women and their families. Located in a newly renovated space on Fraser Street at 41st Avenue, women receive interdisciplinary care from family physicians, midwives, community health nurses, and doulas. We provide Centering Pregnancy group prenatal care or standard individual care, as well as postpartum and breastfeeding drop-in clinics.
The South Community Birth Program team provides care throughout the childbearing cycle. Family physicians can refer their clients to South Community Birth Program as early as possible after confirmation of pregnancy. Women can also self-refer to the program. Women and their babies are referred back to their family between three and six weeks following the birth. If a woman does not have a family physician, we will help her to find one.
Services offered:
- Complete prenatal care, including genetic counseling
- Individual or CP group prenatal care
- Translation services where required
- All births take place at BC Women's Hospital
- Doula support during labour
- Postpartum and newborn care for one month
- Drop-in breastfeeding and newborn clinic
- Referral back to family physician
